This amazing structure reaches from Copenhagen to Malmö and is called the Øresund. The architect responsible for this stunning piece of engineering is George K.S Rotne from Denmark. The Øresund has been operational since July 1, 2000. The overwater section continues for about 8km until it drops into a 4 km tunnel below the Flint Channel.
The bridge/tunnel combo is fascinating from from both an architectural and biological perspective as the Lund's Botanical Association has recognised more then 500 various species of plants on the island where the bridge merges into the tunnel. The island was created by material dredged from the seabed and the concrete imported from the mainland.
