Wendy Tsao saw how an Australian mom turned bratz dolls into regular girls as she removed their makeup, under the Tree Change Dolls Project. This made her want to further explore the idea of how toys are making an impact on the identity of the kids.
Wendy is working in Child’s Own Studio, and thus she is familiar with the effect that toys have as a source of comfort and pride. Today parents can find many dolls in the toy stores, most of them presenting Disney™ characters or Hollywood blockbuster movies heroines. Yet, there are many real-life people who are heroes too and their stories are far more inspiring. These stories can teach children about strength, courage, intelligence.
In her project, Wendy Tsao repainted and then put new clothes on the manufactured dolls turning them into real and inspiring young girls resembling Malala and the young J.K. Rowling, etc.
