It is 16,797 days since US astronauts, Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong first landed on the moon. In honor of these missions, NASA have released some of the thousands of actual pictures from the Apollo missions between 1968 and 1972.

Whilst clearly, technology was far less advanced during these years, the pictures are somewhat blurry. However, everything is there, from the spacecraft itself, the image of the moon landing surface, the crew and perhaps almost as remarkable, the image of Earth from the moon.

This image was taken with a "Hasselblad' camera- interestingly, the inventor of this camera was alleged to have stated that :
 I certainly don’t think that we will earn much money on this, but at least it will allow us to take pictures for free.
Well, the extraordinary gift to humanity is undoubtedly worth more than dollars could buy!
