In 17th Century Japan, traditional japanese folk, invented a unique way to keep themselves warm throughout the winter months. As their clothing consisted primarily of robes, they cleverly figured a way to allow warm air  to come through the bottom of their robes and exit around the neck, in order to heat their whole body.

This clever idea is also space saving as Japanese houses are very small and compact, with little insulation. Furthermore This invention, called  'The Kokatsu' is not only a novel idea, but would  be an awesome lazy guy's dream bed!
