Genoa is a beautiful seaside town on the northwestern coast of Italy known for its quaint buildings and delicious salamis. The city attracts thousands of tourists every year, many of whom bring their cameras to snap photos of the sites along the sea. One such Russian tourist got more than he bargained for and captured it all on camera.

Evgeny Drokov looked out from the balcony of his hotel one cloudy morning in Genoa to see a tornado land just hundreds of meters off the coast. He quickly grabbed his camera and snapped several beautiful and terrifying shots of the scene. Drokov said, ““I’ve never seen anything like this before! It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.” In fact, what Drokov saw was a waterspout which is the name given to tornados that form over water. This particular one was only 2 km away from Drokov as he saw it decend from the heavens to spin down and stir up the Mediterranean. Probably don’t want to get much closer than that Evgeny.
