Wasps Built Rainbow Nests With Colored PaperTranslate

Very few people like the wasps. It is mainly because they are not friendly, but the truth is that not all wasps are aggressive. Some of them are even gentle and very creative. If you do not believe us, then just take a look at the psychedelic nests here to see what we are talking about.

These interesting nests are a product of an experiment organized by Mattia Menchetti, a biology student at the University of Florence. He found out that by giving different colored paper to a captive colony of European wasps, over time the insects would eventually construct their own kaleidoscopic houses. As you can see, the results of the experiment were quite remarkable!

The experiment was deliberate, yet the unintentional human interference in this insect world brought surprising results. For example, in 2012 the beekeepers in France discovered that their bees had created green and blue honey. This happened as the insects used sugar collected from the shells of M&Ms at a nearby waste-processing plant.
