Death by Plastic will Soon be Gone for GOOD!

The unfortunate fact is that litter and waste—especially plastic, soda and beer rings—have ended up in our oceans, and because of that, a crisis has hit marine life and ultimately, our Earth as a whole. Why? Well, in 2015 alone Americans drank more than 6 million gallons of beer, and 3 million of that volume was canned.

Canned beverages often comes with those pesky plastic rings that unfortunately end up in landfills or the ocean…the latter being the more likely case. And once in the ocean, it’s more than likely that it will either end up in the stomach of marine life or even around a sea-turtle’s body, causing it to grow in an irregular and unhealthy shape. No matter how you try to look at it, it’s abuse.

A recent article stated that for marine or ocean animals “Death by Plastic” could be occurring more frequently than people think. The National Academy of Sciences estimated in 1975 that there was approximately 14 billion pounds of garbage added to our waters each year, so could you imagine what our global oceans are looking like now?

Thankfully, though, with the help of Saltwater Brewery, there will be much less toxic waste added to our oceans (in the form of plastic rings, anyway) because they have just created the very first 100% biodegradable six-pack rings! If the rest of the world would follow suit, that would equal ZERO additional waste and mark the end of “Death by Plastic” for our beautiful marine life.

In fact, not only are these six-pack rings biodegradable, they are edible! That’s right, edible! This means that sea turtles, seagulls, whales and other ocean life can munch on the run and still be 100% safe from harm, making Saltwater Brewery the first company to truly take a giant leap for mankind as well as our Earth as a whole. After all, we have only one planet…so let’s treat it with the respect and kindness it deserves.

So, beer drinkers, it’s time to revolutionize and create a trend with this craft beer company from Delray Beach, Florida. After all, if this company decided to re-invent the loop so-to-speak by making their six-pack rings safe for wildlife and our oceans (not to mention delicious), it’s time for the rest of the world to follow suit. It’s time to sit back, relax and save the planet…one beer at a time.

Let’s drink to that!
