A local jogger from Fayetteville, Arkansas noticed several Little Free Libraries emerging for some time, which made her wondering why are they such a success. Jessica Mcclard told Huffpost that she feels the little free structures are not only addressing social problems but are also creating space for neighborliness. That is why she came up with the initiative called The Little Free Pantry.
She received a fund of 250 USD from the Thrivent Financial which helped her set up her first free pantry. It was positioned near the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville and turned out to be a great success. Today the initiative has more than 10K FB fans and has inspired many other people to build free pantries in Ardmore and South Fayetteville, Oklahoma.
