Strange mixes between humans and animals have been around even since ancient times - just remember the Ancient Greek Minotaur or the Egyptian Sphinx. Nowadays the sculptor Liu Xue
continues follows the tradition, but in a way never seen before. His unique style seamlessly weaves together elements of humor, disgust, and vulnerability to depict weird characters which evoke an unsettling range of emotions in the viewer. Xue's work uses ordinary physical "imperfections" of modern people, but also incorporates most extraordinary non-human attributes. Some of these human-animal associations are intuitive, while others feel oddly mismatched. Nonetheless all of them are very impressive and will surely not leave you unmoved.
