Dog Is Reunited With Family After Getting Lost Alone In Blizzard For 43 Days

A lost dog who managed to survive 43 days alone in blizzards has been reunited with their family members.

That dog knows how to survive.

Animal Control Officers in Michigan, US, received a call regarding a dog stranded in Sand Lake after local residents reported hearing barking for a number of days.

After an investigation was launched, more amazing news was received.

As the officers were investigating where the noise was coming from, they found the animal stranded inside an old bunker style silo.

After being rescued, vets discovered the beloved pet was 20 miles away from their house.

The dog was also 15 kilograms less than before he went missing.

Talking about the mission, the Kent County Animal Shelter said:

Our weekend Animal Control Officers received a call this morning regarding a dog possibly stranded near an old grain elevator in Sand Lake, MI.  The dog had been heard barking for a few days per town residents. Our caller had investigated the area and believed him to be stuck under a silo so contacted Animal Control for assistance. Upon arrival, the ACOs were met by two more caring citizens who had located the dog stranded in an old bunker style silo. Due to the smooth 10′ walls, there was no way for him to climb back out.

The team and some locals threw a loop around the dog and pulled him to safety.

After being rescued, it was found that the dog had been missing for some time now.

2 months nearly, said the owners.

After contacting the owners of the dog, it was found out that the name of the dog was Milo.

The post went on:

Needless to say, Milo’s owners rushed to meet the ACOs and their beloved dog. He remembered them immediately and many tears were shed from everyone.  What all Milo experienced during his journey will never be known. However, we do know he survived frigid temps, snow storms, hunger and dehydration. He lost 33lbs and traveled nearly 20 miles over the past 43 days. What he nor his owners never lost was hope and hope is what finally reunited them.

Luckily, the dog was reunited with the real owners.
