A massive frog that is the same size as a human baby was found lurking near a small village in the Solomon Islands.
After discovering the frog, villagers were left in complete shock.
35-year-old Jimmy Hugo, a timber mill owner, was hunting a wild pig on the outskirts of Honiara when he came across the massive frog.
They captured the frog and shared its images on social media.
The frog is so big that it is 1 kilogram heavy and is the same size of a human thigh.
Yep, a grown human’s thigh!
Jimmy said that this is the biggest frog that he has ever seen in his entire life.
I mean, not only him, but that’s the biggest frog that I have seen in my entire life and I’m frightened, I mean, that’s not how big they are, right?
Talking about the frog, he said:
It was the same size as a human baby. We call them ‘bush chicken’ because some villages seem to like them more than chicken, but they’re difficult to catch. A couple of dogs had caught this one and were playing with it in the bush, which is how I managed to get the photos of it.
The bad thing about this is that there was not a happy ending for this big frog.
The time it was caught, the villagers had decided to eat it.
The frog that he found is known as the Cornufer Guppyi.
This type of frog is one of the largest frogs in the entire world and they are usually found in New Britain in the Bismarck Archipelago to the Solomon Islands.
Another sad part about this story is that it shows the decline of such frogs.
Because of community settlements expanding and logging, the numbers of these frogs have seen a massive decline.
