Lottery Winner Dies With Winning Ticket Still Inside His Pocket

A man from Michigan, USA, won the lottery, however, they never got to claim the reward.

According to official reports, the man was found dead with the winning ticket still inside their pocket.

Gregory Jarvis was found near a boat on a private beach in Huron County on September 23, 2021.

It is believed that the boat belonged to the 57-year-old man, who had slipped and fallen in the water, where they drowned to death.

Around a week and a half before their death, they visited the Blue Water Inn in Caseville.

After playing the Club Keno add-on game “The Jack”, he hit the jackpot. However, he did not cash the money.

Dawn Talaski, the owner of the Blue Water Inn, said:

Very nice guy, he was here every day. Somebody said someone just won The Jack and he said, ‘Great,’ and someone asked him, ‘Was it you?’ and it was, so he was super excited.

A week after winning the lottery, Jarvis returned to the  inn to buy everyone rounds of drinks, where he also explained he was to cash in the ticket because did not have sufficient ID.

Talaski said:

He couldn’t cash it because he didn’t have a Social Security card at all, it wasn’t any good, so he applied for a new one.

Concerns grew for Jarvis when he did not appear back  at the inn.

Talaski went on:

Sometimes he’s up north working, he wasn’t here all week and we thought something is wrong.

His boss also arrived and said that he never returned back to work.

In the same week, a local resident discovered his body.

Kyle Romzek, the police chief, said:

We are thinking that he was tying up his boat, slipped and fell, hit his head, and that’s where he ended up in the water. No foul play suspected.

The winning ticket was recovered from Jarvis and was handed over to his family.

Talaski said that Jarvis was planning to take the money to go meet his sister and his dad in North Carolina.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Jarvis, may his soul rest in peace.
