Masayo Fukuda is a Japanese artist making paper art. She has been hand-cutting paper for quarter of a century already and this octopus is among the best representation of her work.

“I am cutting pictures as a way of dissipating all the stress of my daily life,” the Japanese artist told Dimplify. “If you want to get started, all the basics you need are tant paper, a cutter, matte, and a good light source.”

Similar art styles have evolved in different cultures throughout the world, yet this paper cutting art technique is known as Kirie (or Kirigami) in Japan. It is believed to have developed sometime around 700 AD.
