Air India flight makes emergency landing after a live bat flew through the cabin

An Air India flight that was bound to the United States of America was forced to turn back after a live bat was flying through the cabin.

An emergency landing had to be carried out after the bat was flying in the cabin mid-air.

Passengers of a Boeing 737 flight ended up panicking after the Indian Flying Fox Bat soared through the airliner.

It was reported that the Air India flight took off from New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Crew members reported the presence of the bat to the captain 30 minutes after the flight was in the air.

When the captain of the flight contacted the Air Traffic Control, they were advised to return back to New Delhi. 

At around 3:55 am, the aircraft landed safely at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Wildlife officials were contacted by the authorities to retrieve the bat, which was found dead in the business class area. 

The passengers were then boarded to a different flight before Air India flight AI-105 reached Newark later that same day.

The airline had reported the incident to the flight safety department. Air India has also sought a detailed report from the engineering team.

An official representing the airline company said that mammals have the possibility of coming from third party vehicles.

For this one, catering purposes vehicles are being blamed. 

Preliminary investigations revealed that loading vehicles were caught having rats, which could have also brought in the bat.
