According to multiple reports, Facebook will be officially changing its name next week.

Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin back in 2004 and since the day of the discovery, the name has been the same. However, things will be changing up after nearly 17 years.

A report by The Verge claims that Facebook is planning to rebrand itself next week to reflect the company’s focus on building the metaverse.

A source claims that Mark Zuckerberg will be announce the name change at the company’s annual Connect conference on October 28.

It is believed that Facebook as a social network will remain its own app without any changes, the new name that will be announced is going to be for the parent company that is overseeing Facebook itself.

The parent company will also be handling Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus and other acquisitions that the company has made over the years.

Facebook has not officially released a statement about the rumors regarding the company officially changing the name.

The new name is also unknown, and it is believed that it is a ‘closely-guarded secret’ not even known to its full senior leadership.
