A Dunkin’ Donuts worker killed a rude customer with a single punch because he was being racist.
The 27-year-old employee said that he killed the 77-yearold customer in Florida, USA, because he was being rude and was using a racial slur against him.
The Tampa Bay has named the employee as Corey Pujols
The man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated manslaughter after the elderly man passed away in a local hospital.
After being questioned by the police, Pujols said that the man was rude and was using a racial slur against him.
Pujols reportedly approached the man for being inappropriate, but things went more worse.
The elderly man reportedly re-used the slur, which made Pujols punch the man in the face.
The elderly fell hard on concrete floor.
The police and fire rescue crews were called to the store at around 1:30 pm that day and found the 77-year-old man unconscious and bleeding.
The elderly was brought to the Tampa General Hospital, where he was brought in intensive care right away.
Authorities initially arrested Pujols on a charge of battery on a person older than 65.
The incident happened at a Dunkin’ Donuts store in Marathon, Florida, on May 4, 2021.
The surveillance system of the store captured the entire incident and it shows that the customer did not touch him.
It also showed the elderly man hitting the back of his head o the concrete floor after Pujols punched him.
If Pujols is convicted of the charges that are upon him, he can spend 30 years in jail.
It was later revealed that the victim was a regular customer at the store.
An autopsy that was carried out on him revealed that the punch and the fall caused a skull fracture and brain contusions due to blunt trauma to the head.
A doctor from the Hillsborough Medical Examiner’s Office told the authorities that the death of the man should be ruled as a homicide.
Dunkin’ Donuts released a statement about the incident, saying:
The franchisee, who independently owns and operates this restaurant, is fully cooperating with the local authorities. As this is an ongoing investigation, we defer any additional questions to the police.
