Female Journalist Who Spoke With Taliban Flees Afghanistan Because She’s Afraid Of The Terror Group

A female journalist in Afghanistan has officially fled the country because they are too afraid of the terrorist organization, who disregard the lives of women and anyone that’s against what they believe.

On August 17, 2021, Beheshta Arghand made history for carrying out an interview with the Taliban.

It was the first time that a member of the Taliban was interviewed on live TV by a woman in their own country.

So why is this weird?

Well, Arghand and other women have been carrying out anchor related jobs in the country before, but because the Taliban have taken over the country, women are not going to be allowed to work in a number of places.

Right now, there are questions being asked in the country if women should be allowed to work in the media.

During an interview with CNN, Arghand said that she is running away because the Taliban are known to abuse women.

In a statement she released via WhatsApp, she said:

I left the country because, like millions of people, I fear the Taliban.

Saad Mohseni, the owner of TOLONews, released a statement about Arghand leaving the country.

They said:

Almost all our well known reporters and journalists have left. We have been working like crazy to replace them with new people. We have the twin challenge of getting people out [because they feel unsafe] and keeping the operation going.

TOLONews is a 24 hour news channel that was set up in Afghanistan in 2004 after the US removed the Taliban from power.

Arghand, who is currently 24 years old, was working at TOLONews for just over a month before the Taliban took over the country.

Before working as a journalist, she studied journalism at the Kabul University for 4 years.

She has worked for several news agencies and has been an anchor at radio stations.
