North Korea insists “orphan children” have volunteered to work in factories, coal mines, farms, and large construction projects

Excuses are back and this time, they’re the dumbest you have ever heard.

North Korea is insisting that the young people that are working in their coal mines, factories, and large construction sites have volunteered to work there.

A lot of talk regarding forced labor work has been going on around the world, but North Korea has repeatedly denied such thing.

In a response to the questions that people were asking, the country has said that orphaned young people are the ones that are signing up for the duty.

KCNA, the state news agency of North Korea, said that teens who graduate middle school and are orphans are volunteering to work in difficult fields.

Talking about the situation, the news agency said:

[The graduates of orphan schools] volunteered to work in major worksites for socialist construction out of their will to glorify their youth in the struggle for the prosperity of the country. They finished their school courses under the warm care of the mother Party.

There was no confirmation on how old the children were.

A report from the US State Department last year found that teenagers are enrolled in military-style construction brigades for 10-year periods.

The students are subjected to long hazardous work and working hours.

The US State Department report added:

Students suffered from physical and psychological injuries, malnutrition, exhaustion, and growth deficiencies as a result of required forced labour.

However, North Korea has denied that too.
