8-day-old baby girl stolen and killed by pack of monkeys in India

An 8-day -old baby girl was stolen and killed by a pack of monkeys in India.

According to reports, the baby was snatched from her bed by a group of monkeys, who then threw her in a moat.

The mother was devastated when she could not her twin girls from the bed.

Locals spotted the animals carrying the babies across rooftops and managed to rescue one of the baby after she was left on a roof.

The other baby girl was recovered from a nearby moat and was pronounced dead.

The incident reportedly happened in Mela Alangam, West Rampart, which is located near the Thanjavur Palace in India.

According to a report by India Today, the monkeys entered the home on Saturday and snatched the babies.

They added:

Buvaneswari, the mother of newborn twin girls, alleged that monkeys entered her home and picked up the sleeping babies on Saturday. Buvaneswari further said she was shocked to see the monkeys on the roof and began yelling. It was only later that she realised that her children were missing. As she began to cry, neighbours came to help and reportedly retrieved one baby from the roof but couldn’t find the other one. Moments later, the other baby was found in a nearby water body. Medical team which reached the spot pronounced the child dead.

Authorities rushed to the spot after they got to know about the incident.

Inspector S Chanramohan of the Thanjavur West Police, released a statement about the incident.

They said:

Once we got the information about the incident, we rushed to the spot and searched for the second baby. We finally located the infant on the moat. We have sent the body to the Government Medical College Hospital for postmortem.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the little kid, may her soul rest in peace.
