Hero Labrador Saves Teen Owner’s Life By Pouncing Over Rattlesnake

Not all heroes wear capes, others are dogs!

A hero Labrador saved the life of his teen owner after they pounced over a rattlesnake in order to defend their owner.

Alex Loredor, the owner, was in their family home in San Diego California, when he heard a rattling sound coming from under the table outside their house.

Loredo, who is just 18, said his heart just “dropped” when he saw a rattlesnake waiting outside the house.

Luckily, his dog was there to save him.

Marley, the dog of Loredo, was there and luckily, they did something to save the teen owner.

Marley just jumped at the snake and scared it.

During an interview with NBC San Diego, Alex said:

Before I could even turn, Marley had run out the door, pushed me out of the way, and gotten in between the snake and me. My heart just dropped. My first thought was, ‘Oh no, I’m going to lose my best friend.’

However, the thing is that the snake managed to bite the dog twice.

One bite was on his tongue and the other one was on his neck.

The snake fled right away after biting the dog.

Recalling the moment, Alex said:

It was complete panic.  My heart was racing, and I didn’t know what was going to happen next. To be completely honest, I thought he was just going to die in the car.

Alex had to set up a GoFundMe page after the incident.

The page has raised over $12,000, which will be used to pay for the medical bills of Marley.

Another thing that happened is that the local vet did not have any anti-venom vaccine, meaning that he had to drive 25 minutes to the other pet hospital in the area.

He added:

Marley’s face started to swell up and he began to start having breathing complications. Blood also began to start pouring from his mouth. I was so scared and tried to keep my cool and think fast because time was not on our side. I was able to call ahead of time to check him in and the technician were there waiting for my best friend. This was the most horrifying moment of my life, not knowing if your best friend was going to make it through.

Luckily, Marley is now back to normal.

The dog was kept in the hospital for 2 nights.

The dog currently has nerve damage in his tongue and jaw.

Marley will be going through regular therapy and is currently on medication.
