Nearly 1500 Dolphins Brutally Slaughtered At The Faroe Islands In Legal Hunting Tradition

It happens every year and no one does anything.

In a legal hunting tradition that’s carried out in the Faroe Islands each year, around 1500 dolphins have been slaughtered again.

Sea Shepherd, a marine conservation charity, shared a video on social media, showing how the Atlantic-White-Sided Dolphins were killed.

You could also see some of the helpless dolphins lying on the ground and some of them dead in the shallow waters.

In the vide, you could also see the dolphins being cornered in to the shallows by speedboats.

Jet-skis were also present at the Skalabotnur Beach when the hunt was carried out this year.

The Faroe Islands is a an archipelago that is located around 320 kilometers away from Scotland and is halfway between Iceland and Norway.

Locals have been celebrating the local tradition where they hunt the creatures for years now.

Grindadrap, the tradition, consists of herding whales into shallow waters and killing them personally with knives.

Sea Shepherd shared the horrifying news on Twitter and condemned the killings.

They said nearly 1,428 dolphins were driven for many hours.

An unedited graphic video that’s extremely hard to watch was also shared by the group.

Sea Shepherd:

Many participants of the hunt had no license, which is required in the Faroe Islands, since it involves specific training in how to quickly kill the pilot whales and dolphins.

This happens every year and despite heavy pressure from animal rights groups from all over the world and no progress have been made so far.
