“Read it or you die.”
An Afghan TV News Presenter was caught on cam reading out headlines while surrounded by gun-taunting Taliban members.
In the clip, the TV News Presenter was reading out headlines as the Taliban stormed the building and demanded that they should be praised.
Yalda Hakim of BBC tweeted a video clip of the incident saying:
Afghanistan TV – surreal. This is what a political debate now looks like on Afghan TV, Taliban foot soldiers watching over the host. The presenter talks about the collapse of the Ghani govt & says the Islamic Emirate says the Afghan people should not to be afraid #Afghanistan.
In the video, the news anchor is surrounded by 8 armed men.
It was claimed by BBC that the news building was stormed and the Taliban militants demanded the anchor to speak with them.
The news anchor carried out a debate with the militants on live TV.
The presenter talked about the collapse of the Government in Afghanistan and urged the Afghan people to not be afraid on what’s going on.
During the live telecast of Pardaz, the news anchor told the people to co-operate with the group.
Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad retweeted the video and said:
This is surreal. Taliban militants are posing behind this visibly petrified TV host with guns and making him to say that people of #Afghanistan shouldn’t be scared of the Islamic Emirate. Taliban itself is synonymous with fear in the minds of millions. This is just another proof.
It remains a mystery on what really happened behind the scenes.
