A dog had to be euthanized after a woman threw it into the ocean, which left the dog in a horrifying condition.
Candy Selena Marban, who is from Gainesville, Georgia, is currently wanted by the police for throwing the dog into the ocean.
She has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.
On September 12, 2021, the police in Tybee Island responded to the area of South Beach after a 911 call at around 3pm that day claimed that people were throwing a puppy in the ocean.
When the police arrived at the beach, they found the puppy curled up in the sand.
Tybee’s Police Public Information Officer Emory Randolph said that Marban was questioned and given a city ordinance citation for cruelty to animals.
The woman told the police officers that the dog had been injured a week prior but did not have any money for medical treatment.
She then told them that her only option was to throw the dog into the ocean.
The police then took the puppy to Savannah for emergency medical treatment, however, the veterinarian there said that the injuries that it had sustained were extremely severe.
The dog had to be euthanized.
Once the dog was put down, the Tybee Police secured a warrant for Marban on the felony charge.
As of know, the whereabouts of Marban are unknown.
The police also said that they are currently working with the Gainesville police to locate Marban.
In a statement they released on Facebook, the Tybee Police said:
First, we appreciate all of your help. We are aware that Marban has ties to Gainesville, GA and have been in contact with law enforcement there for several days. New information suggests that she may be in the Savannah area, but she could be anywhere.
Anyone with information about Marban is advised to contact the Tybee Police at (912)786-5600.
