A homeless man from Atlanta, Georgia, is currently being hailed as a hero after they managed to rescue all animals from an animal shelter that caught fire.
Yes, that happened and everyone is loving it.
On December 18, 2020, a brave homeless man named Keith Walker, 53, rushed into a burning animal shelter.
The man risked his own life to save the animals that got trapped inside it.
What Happened?
Keith was walking to the W-Underdogs, an animal shelter, to pick up Bravo, his pet dog.
The man was allowed to drop his dog at the animal shelter every night.
As he was on his way to collect Bravo for a walk, Keith saw that a fire had engulfed the kitchen of the shelter.
Despite knowing that his life would be at risk, the man rushed inside and rescued every single animal that was inside.
He ended up rescuing 6 dogs and 10 cats.
Keith has been homeless since he was 13 years old.
During an interview with CNN, the man said:
I was nervous as hell, I’m not going to lie. I was really scared to go in there with all that smoke. But God put me there to save those animals. If you love a dog, you can love anyone in the world. My dog is my best friend, and I wouldn’t be here without him, so I knew I had to save all those other dogs.
The entire animal shelter was not destroyed, but the building is reportedly “uninhabitable” right now.
Gracie Hamlin, the founder of W-Underdogs, said that Keith is a guardian angel.
During an interview with CNN, she said:
Even the firefighters didn’t want to handle the dogs. They called animal control, but Keith was already in the building pulling out the cats and dogs until they were all safe. I can’t thank him enough for saving my animals. I’m still in disbelief, because I’ve been around a fire and I know how fast they flare up. He is my hero.
No animal got injured in the entire incident.
Such a heroic thing to do.
