Do we really deserve dogs?
Images that are viral on social media right now shows an injured dog lying on the ground and a loyal friend looking after him after they were involved in a hit and run accident.
According to reports, the stray dog was hit by a car on a main road in Iguatu, which is located in Brazil.
The incident happened on February 14, 2021.
As the dog was lying on the ground, the other friend made sure they had company, so they stayed with them until help arrived.
Locals said that the dog remained with the friend the entire night until a local NGO to recue the injured one.
Marina Assuncao, a nurse, said:
We were unable to go to the location on Sunday afternoon because we had no available vets, but on Monday morning we received news that both of them were in the same place. I went there with my friend, who is a vet, and we took the injured dog to a clinic.
She is the one that helped the injured the dog.
Marina said the dog, the friend of the injured one, was aggressive when they approached them, but after some time, they managed to win over their trust.
Talking about the moment, she said:
It stayed close to the injured dog the whole time, it licked it and ran its paws over its body as if it were trying to revive it. When we put the injured pooch in the car, the other one had already jumped on the seat and stayed with its pal right up to the moment it received treatment in the clinic.
The dog was initially given medication, food, and water.
Because it was not capable of walking, the dog will be brought to an orthopedist.
Talking about the 2 dogs, Marina said:
We are not sure if they are siblings. They must be the same age, between nine months and one year old, but we were taken by the companionship displayed by the other dog towards the injured one the whole time, from the moment of the accident to the arrival at the clinic and now at their temporary home.
Adota Iguatu, the NGO that is helping out the dogs, are currently trying to raise funds for the injured one.
They will also put them for adoption after some time.
