An official case has been registered against an Indian man, whose pet turtle fell to death from his high-rise apartment.
According to reports, the incident happened in the Thane City of Maharashtra, India.
According to the police, the turtle fell from the man’s flat located on the 20th floor of the building in Majiwada area on May 1, 2021.
The police has named the owner of the turtle as Pratik Uttam Chore.
A case against Chore was registered at the Kapurbawdi Police Station based on a complaint that was lodged by 2 NGOs.
The man is facing charges under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
The turtle that died was a red-eared slider turtle.
An investigation into the case has been launched.
Chore was not arrested or detained by the police.
No further information about the turtle, the NGO, or the owner of the turtle were released to the public by the police.
