A man in Kenya who is known as a vampire after confessing that he had killed 10 children and drinking their blood has escaped from prison and was later killed by a mob.
20-year-old Masten Milimo Wanjala, the vampire killer, was set to appear in court yesterday.
He is charged with multiple counts of murder.
It was reported that he had escaped prison after he missed the roll call at the Nairobi Prison this morning.
The authorities have now launched a manhunt to find the escapee.
3 police officers who were on duty during the time of his escape from the Johoo Road Police Station have been arrested too.
Mike Sonko, the governor of Nairobi, has offered a £1,316 (Sh200,000) reward to anyone able to assist officers in locating Wanjala.
Masten MIlimo was arrested in July after the police tracked him down after two bodies were found dumped in Kabete, which is outside Nairobi.
Upong getting arrested, he confessed that he had committed 10 murders.
He also assisted he police to recover the bodies of his victims.
Masten Milimo was arrested by the police after two bodies, which belonged to Junior Mutuku Musyoka, 12, and Charles Opindo Bala, 13, were found in Kabete.
He has been linked to other disappearances in the recent months too, however, the motive behind his killings remains a mystery.
As of now, the police are trying to establish if Wanjala had accomplices or if he was working alone.
The sites where he hid the bodies were near maize plantations, mostly in open sewage pipes.
Wanjala also held some kids on ransom, where he would demand between £200 (KSH 30,000) and £330 (KSH 50,000) from their parents in exchange for their freedom.
Local news agencies reported that the killing spree of Masten Milimo started when he was just 16 years old.
His first victim is Purity Maweu, who was just 12 at the time of their death.
Master Milimo sucked the blood of the 12-year-old.
3 years after killing someone, he struck again and this time his victim was from Kimilili, Western Kenya.
He killed Aron, a 13-year-old.
The death of Aron led to violent protests, where residents torched a local’s house believing that he was the one behind the killing.
The authorities are now trying to find the dead bodies of the other victims.
A report by NTV revealed yesterday that Masten Milimo was killed by a mob yesterday.
