2 men who were mistakenly switched at birth reunited with biological parents after 28 years

2 men that were mistakenly switched at birth were reunited with their real biological parents after spending 28 years in the wrong house.

The kids, who are now men, were mistakenly switched in 1993.

Yao Ce was accidentally switched with Guo Wie by medics at the Huaihe Hospital of Henan University, which is located in the city of Kaifeng.

The mistake went unnoticed until Yao was diagnosed with liver cancer and was given the news that he was not expected to live longer than 5 months .

The families of Yao and Guo met after the truth was uncovered.

The 2 celebrated their birthdays together with their biological parents when the truth was found out.

Ce was switched with Guo Wie by medics at the hospital.

The woman he believed to be his biological mother had tried to donate part of her liver to her son,  but she was told that he was not a match.

After that, the acting father did it too and the results were the same.

Yao then underwent a paternity test with the man that he thought was his biological father and the mix-up was revealed.

After that, the 2 families met.

The mothers of Yao and Ce were tearful when they met each other.

The mothers of Yao were tearful at the reunion.

The mother that he grew up with was quoted saying:

We have devoted a lot into Yao’s education, and he has become a successful young man.

The biological mother hopes that the boy would get better.

Yao, who is fighting cancer, said:

When I think about my parents’ attitude to me throughout the last month, I can’t think of one thing that has changed.

The parents of Yao and himself ended up launching a case suing the hospital for emotional stress.

They were awarded 1 million yen.

400,000 yen was given for causing psychological damage to Yao Ce and his biological parents and 600,000 yen to cover medical expenses.

The court that handled their case said:

The work error brought decades-long separation to Yao and his biological parents, so the hospital should pay them mental compensation.

When Yao was only 2, he was diagnosed with hepatitis B, which occurred because the hospital failed to give him a vaccine n time.

Yao believes that contracting the disease is the reason why he has cancer right now.

Yao is currently underoing radiation therapy at the Shanghai Oriental Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital.
