4-Year-Old Girl Mauled To Death By 5 Stray Dogs During Family Holiday

A 4-year-old girl was mauled to death by 5 stray dogs when she was on a holiday trip with her family in Saudi Arabia.

The little girl, who has been identified as Shahd, was heard screaming during the attack after she went out from the house of her family.

The incident happened in Al Washaila, Saudi Arabia.

The girl was reportedly teared apart by the 5 dogs.

A passerby saw what was happening and chased away the dogs, however, it was already too late for the little one.

She was covered in blood after the attack and was rushed to a local hospital, where she passed away after a couple of hours.

The incident happened on March 12, 2021.

Abdullah Hazzam Al Abd Al Salam, the uncle of 4-year-old Shahd, released a statement about the incident to local news agencies.

In the statement he said:

We used to go to the family’s vacation home in Al Washaila, 25km southwest of Riyadh. On Friday evening, we missed my niece for a while. Amidst the mother’s screams, everyone came to the girl’s rescue, but it was too late. The dogs fled after they left the girl in a pool of blood. We rushed my niece to the nearest hospital, and we reached the hospital at around 5:30pm. The medical staff confirmed her condition was stable. We kept waiting outside the hospital due to Covid-19 precautionary measures, but at 7:50pm, we were informed that the girl had passed away. It was a shock to everyone.

Al Salam also pointed out a local problem.

In the statement, he said that the suburb where the incident happened had a long problem with stray dogs, however, the authorities had not done anything.

Al Salam went on:

The municipal and forensic evidence officials rushed to the scene of the tragic incident. It is unfortunate that there have been many stray dogs in the area for a long time, and they endanger the lives of the people and residents of vacation homes, but the threat has not been addressed despite the continuous suffering.

The 4-year-old was buried at the Al Mansouriya Cemetery on March 14, 2021.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the little girl, may her soul rest in peace.
