A 7-year-old girl was savagely killed after being mauled by 2 pitbulls.
The mother of the little girl and herself were dog-sitting their neighbour’s pet pitbulls in a backyard when the incident happened.
The mother and daughter were dog-sitting the animals on Tuesday in Garner, North Carolina, USA.
The authorities are now trying to find out why the dogs decided to attack the pair while they were dog-sting in the backyard of a house on Roan Drive.
The 2 animal attack victims were rushed to the WakeMed hospital for treatment for the injuries that they had sustained, however, the child was pronounced dead.
The mother is still inside the hospital, receiving treatment for the serious injuries that she had sustained.
Lt. Michael Mclver of the Garner Police said:
This is a horrible tragedy for all involved. Our thoughts and prayers go out to both families and all those who responded.
The dogs that carried out the attack were seized by the Wake County Animal Control and were taken to a shelter.
The police are currently investigating the incident.
They said there is no current threat to the public.
