Woman arrested for failing to return “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” VHS she rented 21 years ago

A woman that borrowed a VHS 21 years ago was recently arrested and charged with embezzlement because she failed to return it.

Caron McBride, the woman, said that she thought she was going to get a heart attack after she was arrested for the incident.

She later revealed that she got arrested over the late return of the Sabrina the Teenage Witch VHS that she borrowed 12 years ago.

Court documents later revealed that McBride rented a VHS cassette from Movie Place in Norman, Oklahoma, USA, in March of 2000.

The store got closed in 2008, but she never return the VHS.

Talking about the incident, said:

The first thing she told me was felony embezzlement, so, I thought I was gonna have a heart attack.

After being arrested, the woman claimed that she didn’t do it, but it was the children of her ex-children.

She went to explained:

I had lived with a young man, this was over 20 years ago. He had two kids – daughters that were 8, 10, or 11 years old – and I’m thinking he went and got it and didn’t take it back or something. I don’t know, I have never watched that show in my entire life, just not my cup of tea.

McBride only discovered her crime when she was trying to change her name.

She recently got married.

She continued:

They told me that I had an issue in Oklahoma and this was the reference number, for me to call this number and I did. Meanwhile, I’m a wanted felon for a VHS tape.

Ed Blau, a member of the Blau Firm, said that the Celeveland county can still prosecute the woman because the charges were field and a warrant was issued against her.

Despite having no victim, that can still happen.

The Oklahoma District Attorney’s office have dismissed the case, however, it can hamper her job searching in the future.

The only way she can have a hamper-free job search, she has to get the case removed from her record.
