PETA begs Australian farmers to not kill mice that have caused $100 million damage

PETA, an animal rights group, is currently begging framers in Australia to not kill mice that are currently plaguing their properties.

Farmers in eastern Australia are currently experiencing a massive plague of mice.

The population of ice has exploded in rural areas and it has caused millions of dollars in damage for producers.

Images that are viral on social media right now show mice invading a local farm.

Right now, farmers are trying to poison the mice en masse or create death traps that could kill hundreds of them at once.

But the thing is, PETA does not like the plan of the farmers.

Aleesha Naxakid, a spokeswoman for PETA, released a statement about the incident.

The statement said:

These bright, curious animals are just looking for food to survive. They shouldn’t be robbed of that right because of the dangerous notion of human supremacy. In the meantime, we urge farmers and residents to avoid poisoning these animals. This cruel killing method not only subjects innocent mice to unbearably painful deaths, but also poses the risk of spreading bacteria in water when mouse carcasses appear in water tanks.

Right now, farmers are individually losing around $300,000 as the mice are destroying their crops.

But like what PETA said, we should allow that to happen because the mice are just trying to survive.

It is estimated that the total damage caused by the plague has reached $100 million.

Farmers and other people were not happy with what the animal rights group said.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the country was not happy with the announcement.

Michael McCormack was angry in the statement that they released.

In the statement they also called PETA as the real rats in thus mice plague.

Michael said:

Their thinking around this is reprehensible, when you have farmers struggling. You have these people who have never left the city and wouldn’t know if their backside was on fire, then all of a sudden they’re telling farmers what to do? The only good mouse is a dead mouse.

Right now experts are saying that poison is the best message that could kill these rodents.

The horrible rodents invasion has affected farmers that are operating in South Queensland, New South Wales and Northern Victoria.
