Indian man who was “murdered” returns home despite being declared dead

A man from Assam, India, who was considered to be murdered a couple of days ago returned to his house despite being declared dead.

That is a confusing sentence to read, right?

According to reports, the unusual incident happened at the Raidang Tea Estate in Tinsukia district of Upper Assam.

Tarun Bhumij, a resident of Raidang Tea Estate, went missing on May 4, 2021.

He was declared dead, said the authorities.

The family members filed a missing complaint at the Tinsukia Police Station, but things just went south for everyone.

On May 8, 2021, the police found a body of a man who was brutally murdered and was mutilated beyond recognitions.

Locals believed that the body belonged to Tarun, even the family identified the body.

After an autopsy was carried out, the authorities handed over the body to the family so they can perform the last rights.

The brother of Bhumij filed a complaint with the police, which led the police to arrest 8 people.

However, the thing is, the man came back 5 days after the mutilated body was found.

On May 13, 2021, Tarun came back to the house without any injuries, which left his family stunned.

The man then went to the Tinsukia Court and told the judge that he was alive and well.

He also told the court that his family had carried out the funeral of another person.

Debojit Deori, the police chief of the Tinsukia Police Department, said:

It now appears to be a case of mistaken identity. The body which we recovered was mistakenly identified as Tarun Bhumij’s by his family members, but surprisingly, he is alive and returned to his home on May 13. Till now, we could not find the identity of the body we had recovered from Hakunpukuri. The men who were arrested had admitted they killed the person without knowing him.

Authorities are now trying to find out the identity of the person that was killed by the 8 people.
