Blind Liverpool Woman Collapses In The Street After Guide Dog Is Mauled By 2 American Bulldogs

A blind woman from Liverpool, UK, collapsed in the street after her guide dog was mauled by 2 American Bulldogs.

Kathy Worthington was on her way back home when the incident happened.

It was said that her black Labrador, Kimba, was savaged in very brutal manners.

The 2 large dogs pounced on her 5-year-old dog and savaged him for a couple of minutes.

Passers-by in Dovecot, Liverpool, rushed to help the woman.

One man used a pole to try and fend off the animals.

The partner of Kathy returned to the shop to make another purchase but once they came out, they had a hard time helping because the bulldogs had a strong grip on the guide dog.

Officers are now investigating the incident.

Kathy, who is 48, said:

I couldn’t really see what was going because I’m registered blind, but I first heard my partner shout, ‘Kathy, watch the dog’. Then I felt two big dogs on me and he was trying to get them off me. One of the bulldogs was running around, biting Kimba, I was hysterical. I collapsed in shock, it was horrendous. I could just hear my dog yelping, and people saying, ‘they are going to kill him!’ It was so horrific. It probably lasted about two minutes, but it seemed like forever.

Kimba was rushed to the vets and was given an injection for the pain and wounds that they had received.

The owner of the American Bulldogs has come forward and is now supporting the investigation of the authorities.

Detective Inspector Jennie Beck said:

This has caused a great deal of distress to the owner of the injured Labrador, who is registered blind and relies heavily on the assistance of her dog. I would like to remind all dog owners to take extra care and apply appropriate security measures to protect both dogs and their owners. Incidents like these are unacceptable and can cause a long-term harm, or worse. Please, keep an eye on your dogs at all times and keep them on a lead while out in public.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to come forward.
