British Birdwatcher Finds Ancient Celtic Gold Coins Worth $1 Million

A birdwatcher from the United Kingdom is currently making headlines after they discovered ancient Celtic gold coins that are worth around $1 million USD.

Yes, that happened.

The treasure hunter, who is around 50 years old, was strolling along his local area while tracking a dogfight when he came across the find.

The historic coins are belived to be Ancient Celtic gold coins.

The treasure hunter wants to remain anonymous.

The estimated worth of the coins that the birdwatcher found is around £845,000, which is equivalent to around $1,144,000.

The coins are around 2000 years old.

The coins belong to the British Celtic Iceni tribe, who were known for conquering forced of the Roman Empire.

Talking about the massive find, the treasure hunter said:

That evening I was doing a bit of bird-watching. After watching a dogfight between a buzzard and a pair of magpies, I stared down and spotted something lying in a bit of the deep ploughed soil which ran around the edge of the field. I saw the glint of gold and realized it was a beautiful Celtic gold stater, which made me sit down in sheer shock. I then spotted the second coin two feet away and rushed home to get my [metal detector].’ Soon, he realised there was more treasure. Hilariously, a nearby dog walker shouted: ‘You found gold yet?’

The man found around 1,300 gold coins.

Each gold coin that they found is worth around $880.

The man contacted the local coroner’s office, which will decide the next steps.

The coroner’s office will see if the treasure hunter gets to keep them or of the owner of the land gets to keep them or if a local museum will get the coins.
