It was reported by Russian news agencies that the attack left nasty wounds on the arm and leg of the trainer.
Urgent medical attention was needed.

A pregnant woman suffered an epileptic seizure out of shock.
Viktoria, a witness, said:
The lionesses went berserk. When we ran away, there was a wild roar from the animals. The tamer was attacked. A pregnant woman had an epileptic seizure from fright. An ambulance was called.
Maxim Orlov, the trainer, was rescued by the staff of the circus with the help of poles.
Vega, the big cat, was the one that carried out the attack.
Orlov was rushed to a hospital in Moshkovo, a city located in Novosibirsk region of Russia.
After the incident, the circus agreed that Vega, the lioness, will not perform for them ever again.
They are now looking for a potential new home for her.
Orlov, the trainer, released a statement about the incident, saying:
Cases such as today are very rare, but animals are animals. Vega is five years old and has been wayward since childhood. We will negotiate with the zoos to exchange her for a little lion cub.
