Thai Fisherman Finds Whale Vomit On Beach Worth $1.2 Million

A fisherman from Thailand found whale vomit on a beach that is believed to be worth up to $1.2 million.

According to reports, Narong Phetcharaj was returning from shore when he noticed what looked like an ordinary rock at the Niyom Beach in Thailand.

The curious fisherman summoned help from experts at the Prince of Songkla University.

The experts identified it as ambergris, which is used to make expensive perfumes.

The hardened substance can be sold for more than £35,000 per kilo.

The whale vomit that Narong found weighed around 30 kilograms, which means that he could take in millions of dollars in case someone decides to buy it all together.

Ambergris is produced by sperm whales and can be found floating in the sea or washed up on beaches.

Ambergris is a solid, waxy, flammable substance of a dull grey or blackish colour produced in the digestive system of sperm whales.

Freshly produced ambergris has a marine, fecal odor.

Once it dries out, the substance develops long-lasting fragrance, which is used in making expensive perfumes to make the smell longer lasting.
